That is better. I still struggle to being as productive as I want to be, but I’m getting there. Clearing out has already helped me a lot. Symbolized by working through my closet, I also made a few changes in my work environment, as well as planning to radically continue this process.
Clearing out my closet
A few weeks ago my sister had to move out of her flat. Her upstairs neighbour had a burst water pipe in the middle of the night, resulting in water pouring into her appartement for more than 5 hours. Needless to say, everything was ruined.
The day after I returned from my holidays was supposed to be relaxing. But there I was – clearing out her appartement and carrying stuff. Lots of stuff. Lots and lots and lots of stuff.
This made me realize that I also had a lot of clutter lying around, and I decided to radically get rid of everything I do not need or do not use anymore.
The first item on my list was clearing out my closet. I really like jeans and shirts, so my collection grew a lot in the past three years since I moved into my flat. One time I donated a box of clothes for refugees, but that was it.
Almost exactly two years later, I emptied my wardrobe again. I sorted through every single item, keeping only the things that made me happy. My closet now looks abandoned. And I like it.
Clearing out my work schedule
I applied the same principles to my work schedule. Saying “no” to inquiries, not feeling responsible for everything, and delegating tasks. Now I have a lot less going on, and can fully concentrate on the big projects I am working on for my company. My schedule is not fully optimized yet, but I am confident for achieving this in the next two weeks.
How is the rest going?
I did not do well in my goals for being healthy. Although I almost completely stopped smoking, I was drinking a lot more in a lot more situations than I planned on doing. So for the next two weeks, I will be absolutely abstinent from Monday to Friday, and will avoid situations that seduce me to drink. This means going home straight after football training, not eating out in restaurants, and avoiding meetups in bars.
An absolute necessity and my whole focus for the next weeks will be a strict workout regime, as well as starting the day at 6am, no matter how tired I am. Too many times I had to work late because I did not get up early. This will be the time for my workouts.
So be ready to check out my freeletics account – and call me out on it if I miss my workouts 🙂
